What a weekend...
I started the weekend by taking my wife to Paris on Friday night for her birthday. (the casino, not the city). We had a nice dinner in the Eiffel Tower restaurant and then enjoyed an evening of the fake French hospitality. Neither of us had stayed there before and it was a nice get-a-way.
Then on Saturday we had to prepare for our Super Bowl party. It was a lot of work thanks to the mess we had been making doing home improvements the past couple weeks.
The weekend kept getting better as Saturday night was the Sammy Hagar concert. Wow. That’s all I can say… Wow. The best concert that my wife and I had ever been to. The concert started with Sammy and the Waboritas playing Mas Tequila and definitely got the crowd going. After playing for about an hour and a half, Michael Antony (Van Halen’s former bassist) “crashed the party”. It was all set up as I had heard it was going to happen, but was still very welcome. They played a few classic Van Halen songs which were all great. Mikey and Sammy always seem to have a great time together.
After Mikey left the stage, the Waboritas came back out and Sammy promised to have a couple more friends show up a little later. No one was expecting that and we all were a bit curious who it might be.
After several more songs and band introductions, Michael Anthony came back out and Sammy told us that he ran into a couple friends in the casino last night. They were coming to hear the concert and he told them that wasn’t good enough. If they were going to come, they had to jam with them, Cabo style.
The first guest he introduced was Chad Smith, the drummer for the Chili Peppers. Then Sammy milked the next introduction while the roadies brought out some equipment. Then Sammy introduced the greatest lead/solo guitarist of all time, Joe Satriani. Mike, Chad, Joe and Sammy just went wild and Jammed for about 40 minutes or so. It was amazing. The tempo of the entire room changed. It was electric before, but this was something different. The crowed was really into it.
I swear, if the four of them recorded an album, it would outsell any of Van Halen’s top releases.
But anyway, the entire concert lasted over 2 hours and was a complete blast.
The next morning we had last minute prep work for the party and people started showing up around 2. The game was amazing and I’m glad the Pats were stripped their “perfect” season. (BTW, can you really call cheating perfect?)
So anyway, I’m recovering this Monday and it’s making it very tough to work. What a weekend… one I’ll always remember.
Microsoft offers to buy Yahoo!
http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/02/01/microsoft-offers-yahooNormally I wouldn’t care if two companies that I don’t care too much about tie the knot… but for some reason, this feels bad to me. Like dark clouds are moving in, the wind is picking up and demons are about to ascend from the depths to begin an all out assault.
