Random Bits of Randomness

Something shady in New Mexico

As many of you know we are in the midst of a two month road trip to visit family for the holidays with our first stop being Michigan. Just now as we were driving through New Mexico we experienced the New Mexico State Police up to something shady.

The police have set up a checkpoint on I40 Eastbound just east of Albequerque.  They are stopping every single vehicle for what they are calling a "license and registration check". When it was our turn, they didn't check any documents but rather asked where we were going and looked in our windows.

After we were permitted to go, we noticed an area to the right of the road where several cars and trucks were stopped and several cops were inspecting them underneath, under the hood, inside and even in the seats... yes they had torn open one of the seats.

I don't know what they were looking for but I can only guess that they were using a bogus "license and registration check" to get probable cause for some other purpose.

Yet another example of Gulag style tactics to end around the 4th Amendment and our rights protected by the constitution.

Absolutely disgusting.
