TSA Nudie X-Ray Machines are Untested and Unsafe

This is an excellent article from the Seattle Times which outlines just how ridiculous it is that the TSA's claims these things are safe.

Basic premise...  the machines are untested, radiation is bad and the agencies the TSA claims have approved the devices have done no such thing.

It's a must read.

No More Fear

Tim Bray wrote an excellent article regarding the fear based approach to airport security post 9/11. He explains what we really did to strengthen our security and that the rest is all unnecessary.  I agree with his assessment completely.  It's worth the quick read.

Something shady in New Mexico

As many of you know we are in the midst of a two month road trip to visit family for the holidays with our first stop being Michigan. Just now as we were driving through New Mexico we experienced the New Mexico State Police up to something shady.

The police have set up a checkpoint on I40 Eastbound just east of Albequerque.  They are stopping every single vehicle for what they are calling a "license and registration check". When it was our turn, they didn't check any documents but rather asked where we were going and looked in our windows.

After we were permitted to go, we noticed an area to the right of the road where several cars and trucks were stopped and several cops were inspecting them underneath, under the hood, inside and even in the seats... yes they had torn open one of the seats.

I don't know what they were looking for but I can only guess that they were using a bogus "license and registration check" to get probable cause for some other purpose.

Yet another example of Gulag style tactics to end around the 4th Amendment and our rights protected by the constitution.

Absolutely disgusting.

National Opt Out Day

http://www.optoutday.com/

Don't forget that November 24th is national opt out day.  Be sure to opt out of those dangerous and privacy invading naked body scanners.

I also recommend concealing a rolled up copy of the 4th Amendment in your underwear for the TSA to find during the gaterape pat-downs.
